Dude, you could check 3D palace for hard surface tutorials, here is for max and Maya, and also have Mudbox and Zbrush combined, and yes that tutorial is with creating monster half mechanical, half organics, i think. I have too problem finding tutorials, Google for it. But the only one i have is CGnuggets, $10 per month,… -

1) A mp7 seems overly ambitious. I would start out smaller, go for a knife or a simple tool. It is much less likely to end in frustration.
