Check out http://lowendbox.com/ This site aggregates good deals on VPSs, just check out the comments and see what other people say about the provider. The prices are all recurring afaik, the ChicagoVPS server I keep is $29/y. This may not be appropriate if you don't want to invest a bit of care into starting up a VPS -…
I was following this tutorial from the xNormal site: http://www.donaldphan.com/tutorials/xnormal/xnormal_occ.html Finished model: Attachment not found. The tutorial says i should combine different images to create my cavity map, but i dont know if it looks right once i have done so. Cavity attempt: Attachment not found.
That's two brutal critiques. These guys are correct, but I've found that the best tutorial to blow your mind with info is Millenia's weapon creation tutorial. His skill set is obviously much more advanced than yours, gardner, but this is a wonderful tutorial to teach you the workflow of creating of game-ready asset that…
The above, plus a "toon shader" to make those colour patches. There seems to be some outlines in there as well? I've only seen this done in 2D, in a vector-to-pixel-art tutorial: - http://2dwillneverdie.com/tutorial/vector-to-pixel-building-your-sprites-in-adobe-illustrator/ -…

You can read up on it here https://www.artstation.com/dominiquebuttiens/blog/QGw6/free-tutorial-crisp-and-detailed-ue4-renders It's a tutorial about Crisp and Detail Renders in UE4.…
That link is great DBC. Bookmarked. Also, Poop's tutorial section has some real texturing gold in it. http://www.poopinmymouth.com/tutorial/tutorial.htm I make regular use of the Harliquin channel clouds skin underlay (I found it from poop's old character tutorial still on that site) to get some good base variation.
Honestly that CGrats tutorial is your best bet. It shouldn't take you more than 30 min to do that tutorial, and it can easily be translated to any model you want to show off. Ambient Occlusion will make any high poly model look good, and that tutorial shows you exactly how to do it.

Others reported having luck by…
I'll wait till your next part of tutorial comes out. I also had a problem finding the shaders mode which was found under the material tab on the right after half hour of searching because it is right in front of you in the blender 2.49. (Not suggusting you to go over it, unless you wish to run through the gingerbread…
Yeah unless all you have is a flat plane almost every static mesh will need a separate set of UVs just for lightmaps. The general rules for lightmaps in UDK are: 1. Make sure there are no overlapping UVs. 2. Make sure there is 2 pixels of padding around each UV shell (4 pixels total between two different shells) to prevent…
