How do I properly attaach equipments(armor) to dota heroes with blender? Example a cape, do I have to Parent it to the skeleton and attach it to the bones? if yes, then how do I attach it to multiple bones?

Hi everyone! I am going to be making a winter hood for multiple characters. Don't really have a concept but here is a WIP of the base model I have made. Going to bring it in Zbrush and hopefully get it looking good.
My idea is to make poker hat of an ex poker star, its even more fun because Alberts carries around his big cross so it contrasts brilliantly with gambling :D Here is super early wip of it :)
