Diving deeper into rigging and animation atm. and, coming from max, blender is really an eye opener. All these crazy remapping tools max offers and in blender it just-works. Moving animations around, editing rigs, skinning (ok with the help of some custom tools). I remember how difficult it was to fix problems in my max…
Docs question: where can I see what each of the operator parameters displayed in the Keymap interface do for default Blender functions? For example, I see a ton of parameters for the Loop Cut & Slide tool, but if I go to the Python API docs I only see two parameters that don't really explain anything. Am I looking in the…
I mean hey more user options is always good. And thinking about it (without intimately knowing the blender codebase) I imagine I'd would not even be that hard to implement. Edit: BUT, we already have a dedicated edge property for the bevel modifier. And if you add sharp as a limit, you would also have to add the other…
@FourtyNights - I would be curious to know how you achieved the following : - Docking of the tools bar on the left (edit : nevermind, just found out about the "Region overlap" option. I wish there was a way to set it individually for T/N/header though.) - Removal of all workspace presets/tabs - Docking of the viewport…
Blender has an "history" which makes it look less profesional (often seen as beginner or hobby software). Doing add-ons for Blender is quite easy but it's a bit tricky to do commercial add-on. It's evolving since the opening of BlenderMarket wich tie more dev and users : https://cgcookiemarkets.com/blender/ And NO Autodesk…
ok, Blender decided to not develop FBX more than the actual stage (that actually is stable enough for me) here is the note from the main developer Bastien Montagne: "Hi, So, lately there's been a lot of FBX-related issues reported to our tracker. Most of those are either: - Known (half-)broken things (like cameras/lights…
Yeah, spent a minute searching through the developer forum, and it looks like Brecht - who is Blender's chief architect - might be the guy who made this decision way back in 2018. Looks like our very own @MACHIN3 even made some noise about it at the time, to which Brecht's response referred to subtle conflicting behavior…
@pior I agree with your point about the bug tracker. I dont think is really about admitting errors, but general lack of people to work into it and / or bad priority queuing. The open source nature is a democratic one, and sometimes the very nature of its system works against it, making immediate actions difficult to take…
@pior Correct. On my system (Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit) it's possible to open multiple versions of Blender, select object(s) from any of them then copy and paste them into other versions. Just tested this functionality again to confirm with all the versions that are currently installed on this system. All the Blender…
Cutting in your own edges in maya etc. you just cut where you want, put the edges where you want. Trying to do this in Blender it then triangulates ngons you were left with (that you were going to cut into quads manually). Instead of just cutting an edge between two verts in the ngon, you have to delete the faces it's put…
