Hey modelling a M10 and was wondering how would you guys go about modelling this bugger? I have been tearing my hair out with trial and error with no progress. Hell, came up with a kind of solution right after I posted. Question though, how would I go about getting the bumps modelled in there? Without ruining the cylinders…
i personally prefer (as in, god do i hate box modelling, and edgecloning isn't much better) a technique i call silhouette modelling, which does exactly this! model it from the more dominant side as a plane, add vertices and create the next view, in this case i'd start from the side and then do the front, filling the gaps…
Hey guys. I'm new at the Sub-D modelling stuff, and never used it. I've heard it would be good in vehicle modelling, so before I start modelling I think I should start in a lowpoly mesh of the car but keeping the lines (aerodinamics, etc...) with chamfers and quads only for later meshsmoothing, right? And great work here,…
I have a bit of a problem I suppose. I'm modelling this knife: http://www.bladesmithsforum.com/index.php?showtopic=18633 Here is my model so far: I forgot about the circular part at the base of the knife that connects to the handle when I was modelling this. Should I start over? I didn't really think of the topology at the…
Guys, how would you model large, continuous, smooth shapes like this kayak in 3ds max? I considered polygonal modeling with turbosmooth, but after adding loops it quickly becomes a mess to adjust size here and there, because it's one shape which cannot be broken in parts. I started modeling it with curves and then surface,…
I've got a quick question, glancing over the responses in the thread I see people saying that pentagons, and 8 sided faces are useful for this model, I'm more of a character modeller so I'm not really educated in advanced object modelling, but I thought pretty much any type of ngon was bad, maybe someone can shed some…
Hello! I am modeling a tunnel that has an expansion in one section. How can I better distribute the edges? As you can see in the image, after extruding from the cylinder, many edges are concentrated at the top. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this or do this properly? Thank you in advance!
Hi Everyone I have a question on workflow for high poly modeling in Maya. Is smoothing or subdividing the last step in the process? I understand that keeping models low poly for the initial modeling stage helps with matching segments of intersecting forms and makes wholesale changes to the model easier...but should all…
Thanks, about Floating Geometry in 3ds MAX, I just saw lesson by DT "Modeling_details_using_floating_geometry" and there is fine example to model "convex" geometry. It is ok. But how to model the "concave" geometry on a model as in video in Blender by SanderDL ? Nam.Nguyen Unfortunately, Nmaps are not suitable for me :(…
Thanks for your answer! Which thread would this topic go in? Maybe it can be moved there by an admin. Is Sub-D Modelling the recommended way to do game models? For hardsurface stuff, is it not easier to just use whatever 3dsmax offers. Like Boolean, Bend, Lathe etc. or just attach primitives to one another until the…
