Hey Jogshy, I think I may have come across a bug? I've tested quite a few things to find out if it's just me being silly, but the error keeps happening. Here's a screenshot: You can see the test models I have, just a simple box, 12 triangles, and a similar box with rounded corners and edges. The UV layout with the…
Well, it does actually have seams, they're just hardly visible at all I actually had to try really hard to get the light and camera in such a position as to make the seam obvious - from 80% of angles and lighting situations you can't even see it. Also if you check this image I posted earlier, and compare it to the flat…
Hey guys. This is the first time, I have been using xnormal for baking normal maps. Usually, I do it in Maya. Anyway, I have found a problem and I don't know what is wrong. Every time I try to bake normal map, I get this strange error. I tried lots of different settings, including mesh scale. I get this strange artifacts…
This is probably going to sound like contradiction from my last post lol but the same error crops up everytime... Everything has been checked; The cage has the same no of verts, edges, poly's and smooth groups as low poly. All the meshes have been x-formed, stack collapsed with all sub objects types deselected. Pivots…
Hi everyone. I seem to be having a really strange problem with Xnormal that I can't figure out. I am working on an armor set and have baked out several pieces so far, all without error. This one in particular gives me big AO artifacts and I can't pinpoint where I'm going wrong. I have checked the cage and it doesn't have…
Ok Earth, RAR received. 1) Yes, it happens to me too with your files. Using cages and not using them. With the faster raycaster and with the conservative one. With the "smooth normals" option and without it. Yes, some weird thing happens... 2) I imported all in 3dsmax 9 sp2. Reset XForm+Collapse. Saved both highpoly files…
Hi, I started messing with this program at 3.7 and found it to be really promising. I hadn't had anything to seriously do until now though so I thought I'd try the latest, and the normal render works wonderfully, but there's a problem when I go to the 3d viewer. It gives me this message: "unexpected error showing the…
Basic workflow questions: I want to create my cage in xnormal, i set the high and low poly mesh, click on using cage at low poly then go into 3dview. -First problem: I get error that high poly mesh is too big (tough only a few million poly) so I have to turn its visibility off.. but then the cage should encompass the high…
[ QUOTE ] Hey Jogshy, I'm using geforce 6800 and the newest drivers (163.75) the cpu mode gives the same error too. [/ QUOTE ] Is not the Forceware 163.75 a Beta? Official one is 163.71 for WinXP and 163.69 for Vista. Works with the FP16 mode? Can you open the 3D viewer using the OpenGL graphics driver? Are you using a…
You probably need to set up a cage for something with a complicated shape like this. What you are seeing is ray casting error, where the mesh is being traced incorrectly, because the ray distances are incorrect for some parts. Generally its always best to use a cage for baking, unless you are just baking onto a plane or…
