Weird...I've been able to import objects with like 13 materials before... but that was Maya, not max. the key thing in that case was to make sure each material had a unique name AND a unique TEXTURE applied. It would ignore simple lambert shaders applied if they had no diffuse texture.
Hi zepic Your export settings looks fine, so we need to do some testing to get to the bottom of this. Are there any more errors in the console ? upload a mesh (cgf & max) and your material, diffuse, ddn & displ and I will see what happens on my system.
Still slowly picking away at textures! Most recent screencaps from Unreal and my diffuse/specs. Aside from the usual scratches and grime I've added a sticker to the bare side to break up all that gray space and tried to vary the color of the pump handle a bit.
First color attempts, these are only diffuse colors and normal maps. I'm going for washed out colors because the mood has to primarily come from the lighting. Foliage will stand out from the rest and be vibrant green. I can't wait to have a nice working shader for that!
This is still very wip but I wanted to throw down some color and see how it looks. Going to warp and bang up the metal normals a bit tonight before continuing with the diffuse. 719 Tris on this guy will post wires later when I update this thread next.
That's strange, you don't have same render on diffuse and viewport. Proportion are right, but I prefer young babe (I'm young too, please don't think strange things <_<) Before go sleep : hell 03:30 AM W_W ... work to compagny tomorrrow. noooo....
Ignore them! LOL Make an ortho camera looking down from above. Apply a gradient texture into a diffuse slot (black to white). Apply said material to your land mass. UV the whole thing from the side, using Fit, to autosize the texture. Render camera.
This has some really nice surface detail, an interesting silhouette and is well lit from a render stand point. I find the edges of the cart are way too sharp, in conjunction with the rim lighting having little diffusion makes it look like the edge of a knife. Otherwise, its looking promising :)
Awesome stuff, vitaliy! Rage is a very sweet game! Congratulations to your team and thanks for displaying your efforts. Any chance that you can share some of your texture sheet samples that dress these bad boys and girls? I'm specifically interested in your approach to your diffuse work.
Hi guys, i need some help with the model, this is a render in 3D´SMAX of the AO+Normal map, but now i want to do the diffuse, spec...etc, i never used 3D Coat and i think it would be a great way to get the maps. what do you think?
