Welcome!! Choice of application isn't that important these days, as long as you learn a nice combination of a 2d and 3d one, learning new tools in the future is usually painless and quick. The most important skill you will be working on is your artistic one!
Hey Guys, Got the first WIP pic for ya! Progress is going smooth, so I might have this out sooner than later. Head over to http://www.l4dmaps.com/details.php?file=21332 To check it out, and future updates.
Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo, HDD crashes are the worst. I make sure to back everything up and then again a second time. Loosing work once is too many. Hope to see the project up and going again sometime in the future, was keeping an eye on this one.
Thanks for the quick feedback everyone! These are some clever ideas to cheat the interior. I'm planning to put this in UDK in the future (FPS). I didn't notice some of the scale issues. Thanks you guys! I'll try to post updates soon. :)
Thanks guys for your reply. Your method worked like a charm. In the end I went with a material ID pass and keyed stuff out in after effects. Rendering separate passes was just not Ideal, But its good to know for the future.
I have a model done for the community chest but I am looking for someone who is interested in texturing it. I will also be modeling more in the future if a texture artist would like to collab. Just shoot me a PM thank you.
Could that be a feature added to the Toolbag baker in the future? The ability to bake all the maps from one mesh to the other in one click would be awesome. That could also lead to new pipelines, like a library of fully textured pieces for kitbashing.
Looking forward to see the final model man! Great Job! Mr. Holdeen really does a lot of great, and awesome character designs! I'd like to do something like this in the future! More power to you El Scorcho! :D
One thing to note there is the max ram for that system is 4gb, so if you're thinking of upgrading to 8gb anytime in the future, you would have to replace the motherboard. And ram is cheap as hell, so i would look for something with a higher max.
ahhh excellent news, congrats mate, glad to have you back around polycount and all, wasn't sure where you had gone. Glad to hear evrything is running smoothly though man and good luck for the future. john
