@bitinn you can easily modify vertex colors in-engine until the cows come home. it's incredibly common practice.

Hotkeys or Quads are the way to "solve" this. If the rollouts are annoying, avoid using the command panel at all, except for managing the modifier stack.

Using the noise modifier with turbosmooth is one way. I'm sure you can achieve results with a displacement map as well.

did you add a reflective map or an environment? thats usually the problem with the black reflectivity and for the mesh, try a normal modifier

You can also use a STL Check modifier to find mistakes, like doubled faces, open edges, etc.

Maybe this kind of trick could help? Using Blender, I've applied a VertexWeightProximity modifier, allowing to see some meshes variation:

3rd answer in this topic or select object a, select object b: modify > match transformations > match pivots. a´s pivot is now matched with b´s.

I don't think you have to change the shader. Just use UV channel 1 in the modifier if the shader is using 0, or 2 if 1. It's that simple.

But then each time I have to tweak UV's for a particular part of the mesh I need to select those specific polys before applying the Unwrap modifier?
