I know Photoscan a bit. Result is very similar to 123d catch, with slightly more control. I really dislike what Autodesk made of their technology with the online application and cloud. Photogrammetry is used in place of laser scanning by professionals in architecture, archeology... With a correct calibration, it's very…
I get that feeling too. A lot of mainstream tools seem to optimize for stability and compatibility rather than radical change. Once a workflow becomes industry standard, everything around it tends to reinforce that direction, because production pipelines depend on predictability. But historically most shifts in content…
Just finished a tutorial on how to do textures from photogrammetry. Even though it's focused on textures, it can still be useful for any kind of photogrammetry Get it here
the Substance B2M (if that's even still around) or Sampler tools are your best bet. Understand that you aren't going to get anywhere near 'realistic' normal information from albedo photos, they're all just guessing based on perceived slopes in the image signal. Results are generally substandard in my experience. If you are…
Hi there! I've never made a blog post before.. but I wanted to keep going on this project and be consistent with it. I'm posting this here for my own sake but also a way to be more involved in our industry community, learn new techniques, and hear other artists' perspective or advice, if you're so inclined to give it 😁 I…
I am just looking for any new tools that could provide quick solutions . I try Sampler regularly and I still see nothing really good except bricks surface and some small pebbles maybe. Still a bit inflated , not as crisp in details and sharp edges as hires photogrammetry . Height and normal maps IMO are a key component for…
I just released my first ever pack on the Unreal Marketplace, based on my photogrammetry work of the past year! Check the trailer out  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ozEIJKc603Y https://www.unrealengine.com/marketplace/photogrammetry-rock-textures
If you have other production or pre-production related workflows demonstrated in your portfolio, having photogrammetry would add to it. However, having ONLY photogrammetry is useless. It does not convey your uses in game development, as it is only one of many steps to get something functional in game.
Hey, looking good. Photogrammetry always blows me away with how good the results are for the effort you put into it. This tutorial has been my guide for photogrammetry in the past, and I hope you find it useful too. The post-process workflow will hopefully be useful. https://gumroad.com/sebvhe#VGDI
