Running really does work better...and to lose them I have tried zig zagging through trees and past wall openings, through buildings, they give up once the lose line of sight.
Over the weekend I ran into a two man team of a survivor and a bandit. The survivor runs 50 yards ahead and says he is friendly. While you are distracted the bandit shoots you with the sniper rifle.
