ErikNilsson - Super nice! I'd love to see some of the other smaller ones made in the same amount of detail as the three bottom crafts :) Experimenting with painting in index colour mode - the limitations (aliased, no layers, limited colour palette, etc) can be fun to play with, even if it doesn't look like much :P
@knacki thanks!. Love the term "sovereign lines" XD Insect are the usual reference for mechs they share many traits. Exoskeleton, multi jointed limbs, etc. I'll go back to insect at some point but for now I'm trying to get outside the comfort zone. A mantis would be cool though. @ErikNilsson Here' an Ostrich!
Not to derail a great thread into a silly debate (thats been going on for years now) or anything. But people should be free to draw and share whatever they like (within reason, no kiddy porn, etc). If they like "over sexualised" female characters then they should be allowed to share their drawing without being branded a…
Making flat stuff not flat. Just messing about with a sketching technique. Can't remember where I saw this technique but its pretty old I think. Making 2D side view thumbnail sketches into a perspective sketches. The focus here was the technique rather than the concept hence the lack of detail in wheels, etc. Was fun to do…
You guys are awesome. Thank you so much for your time and very useful thoughts. I'll consider everything for the best output. Thanks a ton. Are there some brushes which you can recommand for macro environment? There are plenty of leaves brushes etc. But now I am in different perspective. Unfortunately, there were deadlines…
Erik, Twoflower: Thanks :D Selaznog: haha love it Fenyce: I like the design, but if I were you I would look into the anatomy a bit more; even when working with highly stylized imagery you still need to follow the basic rules of anatomy :) Check out Disney's Hercules for inspiration, it might help you a lot. Now, update on…
@mariomanzanares- thanks so much for the advice! no offense taken too. i keep a "cool references" folder but i think i could organize it a lot better as well as be less strict with the stuff i add. also im just finding out about new places to pick up 3d inspiration like artstation etc :) drew this weird guy today based on…
I recommend just starting a theme thread by anyone's initiative with the addition of "open thread" in the title. No deadlines so any new member months or years from now can just bump it with their contributions. No rules either would be nice. Keep it low maintenance. You like the theme just do your art and post it. Making…
@EricElwell Very true man, currently doing a personal 2D game project. In the past I have always tried to be disciplined about it, setting up deadlines, working a little every week etc, but I just end up getting bored with it and then hating the project. So this time I said: Ok! Im only gonna work on this when I feel like…
Amazing, I'm not really into guns but the cable detail looks great imo! Btw I miss some lens flare :P Well, it's been like a month or so since I got "serious" (doing tons of studies, reading Gurney's book, etc) with digital painting (and painting in general lol). I'm posting some of my results 'cause I really need some…
