I'm working on some UDK materials for paper lanterns. Lots of particle lanterns! Floating about! I referenced JordanW's Bathouse scene alot to get me started!

Damn there is always some cool stuff to look at in this thread, I love it. been working on this remington 870. Almost done with the high poly, just gotta add some floating details and I'm gonna move on to the low.
@Stoop_Kid: looks pretty good so far but I think for hard surface stuff you could push some more sharp edges. Also, some pits could be worked into the design more because they just seem to be floating pieces of geometry.
The parallax on the cobbles or whatever that is is failing because of the angle of the camera. The sewer grate... Is that floating...? The end of the street goes into a blank, lifeless pure brick wall? The huge pipe up top has no supports holding it safely where it is. These are just first impression looks :p Good work…
nice wip jose, really like where you're heading, now add more definition :) first deformation test to see the limitations of the topology, and they kick in pretty quick on parts like the eyebrows, so i think i'll make them float, will fit his hair better anyways ^^
For an in-situ prop this is way too high poly, but as a portfolio piece, whatever. Just try to keep the detail consistent, for example in your curve segments - the corner of the controller itself is lacking geometry compared to the buttons and stick. It's the silhouette of the controller that is most important here, so…
