Heya @kio - indeed, that's similar to what I had to do with another addon recently. That said in the case of this workplane addon the error remains even after renaming the zip and/or the installation folder and/or the folder name inside the zip. I would suggest you to provide a direct link to a foolproof zip somewhere in…
@kio Hi, downloaded your addon. Doesn't seem to work in 2.78c. Anytime, I click the box in the user preferences to activate the addon. An error like what pior posted comes up. EDIT: Works now. To anyone having this problem, after downloading master zip, extract the folder and install the zip file inside the extracted…
I'm not sure. I run Linux so typically just build from source and yank down the whole scripts svn and it's good to go. Seems import key configuration works fine for me too though. The folder it goes in is (inside the extracted download folder) 2.63 -> scripts -> presets -> keyconfig. It's probably not really worth as much…
I'm using it as a portable install where all configs are part of the blender program folder (e.g. blender-2.82-windows64\2.82\config). So in my case I just run it from an usb stick. When upgrading to a new version I copy the content of the 'config' folder from there to a new install. Installed addons (which don't come…
Is there a way to copy preferences from one PC's Blender to the other, while still retaining the File Browser Directories? Normally I just copy the Config, Datafiles & Config folders in AppData, but (not surprisingly) replacing everything also replaces the directories, something which I'd like to keep. Someone know where…
What is so difficult about it? You download it, you unzip it, and extract the files to your install folder. It's not intended to be a user-friendly update, it's a rough draft for public review.
It's not available to download as a build - currently you have to make it yourself. I could upload it somewhere though, if it's just about uploading the root folder containing the executable. Is that all that's needed?
I suggest you though to not sync the bookmarks.txt and recent-files.txt inside the Config folder, so that you can navigate faster in each PC :) its your choice though, ofc
I just noticed that Blender's file browser allows me to create a new folder, but not to move files into it. I'm surprised that something as basic as this isn't possible. I'm working on a game and have a lot of .blend files, some by contributors, and would like to sort them, ideally using previews. I can certainly use the…
If anything the safest is probably to not bother with the installer to begin with. What's the point of it anyways ? The zip version works very well, creates the same preferences folder on startup, and doesn't mess up anything system-wise.
