Version 2.1.3 requires 3dsmax 2010. I've put up the last version that supported max2008 and 2009 on GitHub as well: https://github.com/downloads/Pjanssen/Outliner/outliner_2_0_97.mzp That should work better :)
Added a new blog-post: Selection Mode Preview I definitely agree that it is difficult to identify instanced or referenced objects in 3dsmax. I'm not sure how feasible it is to do something about this in the Outliner, but I'll think about it.
I guess this is caused by the fact that 3dsmax doesn't actually delete these materials until the scene is saved. I can have a look at this though, to see if something can be done. Unfortunately, no. It would be very nice if it was possible, but the material editor does not support this.
Pjanssen, marvelous tool! :) I've use it for quite some time now. Is there a possible chance to add some sort of "clear all empty layers" function? Merging scenes in 3dsmax also merges empty layers and it is very annoying when your layer manager is clustered with unused layers.
No changes to the UI in that session. It happens each time I install it. I installed it on 2 different machines and the same thing happened. Both machines had the script previously installed and I opted to download/update after the prompt came up that there was an updated version. If it helps I can uninstall it and try…
This is a great tool! Thanks for updating it, makes managing big scenes much easier. A few things I know I would find useful: -being able to see just what you have unhidden in the hierarchy view instead of the entire scene contents. Similar to the 3dsMax Selection Floater. -an option to have the search function only search…
Hi guys, I have decided to stop the development of the Outliner. There are basically two major reasons for this decision: 1. I don't want to have to compete with Autodesk The Scene Explorer got a bit of an overhaul in 3dsMax 2015, with some of its new features being based on the Outliner. Even though Autodesk may not have…
Yeah I'm thinking about how to handle the text and line colours, to maintain readability. That could be easier to control when there's a fixed set of colors. These colors could even be part of the colorscheme, so it would be customizable, just 'global'. And I'm also thinking a colorlabel feature might be a bit cleaner to…
Hmm no it won't really be similar to the display tab I think. It will only change things in the Outliner itself, not in the viewport or anywhere else in 3dsMax. Basically what I'm thinking about is making a "mode" consist of the listmode (hierarchy, layer, etc), the tree layout, and a filter configuration. Currently these…
I uninstalled and reinstalled from scratch and made sure the files and preferences where gone. Then I grabbed a fresh download from your site and I noticed that it didn't totally reset the toolbar UI it just added some icons I had previously moved to another toolbar and hidden, most notably some of the snaps options. But…
