Working some on the trees. Also trying to figure out what to add in the background besides fog... I'm fairly certain fog alone is nothing going to kill the blank vista... and most swamps don't have hills or giant rocks :\
looking better ! i'm not sure how you're rendering this but, i would suggest to add some bounce light. Because the you should be able to see the details on the side of the boat facing the camera. Or maybe i need to calibrate my monitor.... :(
like the new lighting. it creates good contrast between the cool colors of the environment and the warm colors of the lights. maybe you should ad another light on tho dock. may add some more interest. I think your trees in the background are a big problem. its taking me out of the piece. I think it is the scale of the…
Great Idea, and it is coming along nice so far! I think your main tree there looks a bit too smooth and much less detailed than the very nicely done shack. At least add some more texture detail. i second the hand painted textures choice especially for a scene like this one! hand painted doesn't mean insane saturation or…
Oh yea great improvements! I'm digging the texture on the trees, looks a lot more painterly. Is it bump mapped? I also like the added greenery, nice touches. I like the angled light source, I also like the idea of playing around with alternate times of day or color schemes/moods. Doing a version at night, you could add…
So I didn't get much time to work on it tonight, but I thought I would mess with some of the plants. (ferns, lilypads, ivy) And the more I test rendered I started to see some possibilities opening up with the rich saturations of the greens. I really liked how they sort of "livened" up the more earthy tones in the scene so…
Thanks adam. I think this goes back to what you were saying about "when to call it done." For me it is not "complete" but it is up to the standard that I would submit to places. On that note I do plan on continuing to add elements to this scene to spice it up, and I enjoy your ideas. I think it has potential to go in many…
UDK has a generate UV funtion which is pretty handy (just slap the new one in a new UV slot and use that uv channel for your light bake). You can find it under the mesh tab after double clicking your mesh in the generic browser. Not as great as a hand made UV channel but it'll get the job done for light bakes if you're…
Love the tree overtaking the house, cool idea. I think you could push it just a tad more, maybe lift the back of the house up a bit, tilt the front of the house down and break some of the supporting columns under the house, as the house has literally been lifted up by the tree in the back, could add a lot of character. Oh,…
I really do like that paintover... and ultimately thats what I was going for.. hence those images from the Frog Princess. But I'm in limbo right now. I've got a ton of people saying do that foggy, silhouette of the trees and leave it at that (which I just now tweaked to my liking) But the first idea I had was to do that…
