Can anyone give advice on modeling a leather or linen wrap, around the grip of a gun or sword? Working on this low tech sci-fi gun in 3ds max: The wrap around the grip is the one area I'm not sure I can model. I have 3ds Max and Zbrush.
@oskarkeo I use Vertex Align Tools for this, the corner align function usually needs to work in chunks or halves of a model. Another option is to use shrink wrap; set up a plane at 45 degrees, wrap the first set of verts to it, then the second half. @MaxHoek Maya doesn't like that corner.

Hi guys, I am trying to wrap my head around modeling this shape around this cylinder shape. A boole method is the easiest but of course results in terrible geo. Any tips or ideas on how to model this? The fact it wraps around I find more difficult, if it were flat I would have an easier time.
