Hi, 24 subdivide cylinder extrude for nozzle, I know its wrong subdivide from nozzle edge. some triangles but if anyone guide me... much appreciated. Thanks. Thanks.
Hold on to your hats mate! Forum threads don't always have people on hand 24/7, you may have to wait longer than 24 hours to see a response. But anyway, back to your selector switches. Could we have a wireframe of what you've done so far, preferably at the angle which your reference image is at, and a description of why…
With mutiple rings moving inwards like that you can optimize as you get away from the edge as well. So 24 on the outer ring reduces to 12 in the middle reduces to 6 in the center ...
I didnt mean to sound blunt :( Anywho I took his advice and doubled it up to 48 sided cylinder and it worked perfectly! the low poly version I've optimized to 24 sides
Not exactly like that, but with some adjustment you can get the same "curvature" . I have to redo it to explain the process. You're right, in the video I did it with 24, haven't tried with less. Watching more carefully the references, my shape is not even correct.
G3L : to avoid that kind of bumps around a cylindrical shape, you really just need to go much more dense with the base volume. Try maybe 24 edges. The more edges you have defining the primitive, the less it will deform near areas of chanfered, double-edged details...
Here you go Colddeez. I didn't use booleans, just the Slice tool in modo (Shift+C) and then welded some verts and added edge-loops. Started with a 24 sided cylinder. There could be some better edge-flow, but this works for the most part and any pinching is kept to a minimum.
Napoleon X, you need twice as many polygon spans running down the shaft in order to smooth out that shape properly. So if you have 12 sided cylinder, you really need a 24 sided cylinder to be able to maintain the curvature or else you wind up with lumpy potatoes.
deoseph - after just figuring out my own probs, all I can suggest is more subdivision/mesh before shaping it? the 'banding' or ripples I'm pretty sure would be minimized and solved by that - just try it out on a cylinder of maybe 30 to 50+ sides (looks like yours is around 24?)
