@tynew just sharing a write up you asked for, did not know you want a tutorial for exactly same issue you are having. I see 8 spokes here though and perfect symmetry frankpolygon did a great breakdown too. Issue would be 7 spokes with 4 or 5 lug nuts.
He's like 10x faster than me. And I've been doing 3D for 7 years. Does it mean I should basically quit? Because time is the primary reason why I want to learn his technique. I bet he can model a full car with insides and everything in like a day.
hi all, this is driving me a bit nuts from animation point of view as well as modelling each part as separate blade. rotating edges in poly mode does the trick but this shape is not co planar, more like jet engine blades. http://briefly.silentforest.eu/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/alien-isolation-7.png
Ho thanks guys! Winrar did the trick. (as well as a less obsolete release of 7-zip. Hehe. My bad!) Also, about that NURBS image Ivars posted - MOI Moment Of inspiration is now out of beta stage, reaching release 1.0 for 150$. A great way to create smooth hard surface shells. http://moi3d.com/1.0/docs/pod.htm
1- make cylinder 2- select edge ring 3- connect 4- select the new loop 5- chamfer (from 1 to 2 edges) so you have now 2 lines in the right place 6- select the 2 new loops 7- chamfer both with the same value 8- select both poly rings 9- extrude inwards with the same value
How do I model the disk part as well as the screens? Since this mesh has an odd number of screens, I had to make a 14 sided cylinder in blender, keep two of the 14 faces, extrude the screens, and duplicate and rotate the faces 7 times. I want to add a bevel to the mesh because importing this mesh to 3D Coat for sculpting…
so, this time i used max. so just create an helix and add lots of curves, both radius need to be the same. you can turn on, render in viewport, and add like 7 segments for the helix. convert to poly. add a ffd 2*2*2 and select the 4right control points and pull them down. then you can, scale the helix down on all axis, and…
@Liam_CH looking at your ref quickly I cam see you need no more than 4 spans across the width and 7 down the length to block that form out. Use as little geo as is necessary and only add geo when you can't get the forms with the geo you have. A classic beginner mistake in both modeling and sculpting is to add way too much…
Man I'm lovin this thread! One thing that i don't think has been covered (or maybe I missed it) but wrapping objects (repeating meshes etc.) specifically in Maya, bolts or trims etc. I saw this link - http://www.mutantspoon.com/temp/howto01.jpg If anyone can tell me how to do what he did in steps 6 and 7 using maya, I…
Okay. Here is my question: I want build a wall around my scene just like the guy in this tutorial (7:40). Problem is, I'm using Maya, and I don't know how can you do it like that there. I know you can do it in 3ds max using loft (gif), but it's not working in maya. The only way I'm thinking of, is using extrud along the…
