Damn alex, I know I say this a lot but you are constant inspiration man, the touch ups you did to that art test is really nice man, each piece you are getting better and better :) Rawk onz!
Since we're on the topic of art tests, I thought I'd show my other one, unfortunately I didn't make the cut, but I learned a lot. I'd show the concept, but I'm pretty I'm not supposed to. Ironbear, that guy is a BEAST
Did an art test for Turn10. Good enough to score an interview at least. The specs were 700tris for LOD1, 50% for LOD2, then box-silhouette for LOD3. Diffuse is actually 1024, AO was 512. The UV's for the AO chan (3) are also used for realtime lighting.
taking a break from character modeling practice and doing some environment practice. Im doing that splash damage art test (dont plan on sending in just for fun) http://www.splashdamage.com/envarttest Probly roughly 2hrs at max and im at 3742tris. Work done in maya
Was up til 1am again figuring out normal/bake issues…. Conclusion: Xnormal = rawks. Wippiness for current art test. "Defender" Spaceship wip. Ambient occlusion bake. 100% Lighting. Low poly, smooth shaded. Low poly with normals + AO :D _cisco
Nice hydrant, alexl. I'm pretty sure the DE art test specs are 500-600tris. With low res textures. I know thats not what you were aiming for, I just thought i'd share for future reference. Good job with hiding the seems too.
DE Art test? never seen it :( however my googling tells me its a fire hydrant from Hong Kong? At least the one in the photo I used is from Hong Kong :P This one: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/2/2c/Hong_Kong_fire_hydrant_number_2239.jpg
ImSlightlyBored that SD Art test attempt looks awesome, nice atmosphere. JohnnyRaptor, that looks great, is he grinning? looks like a wierd inbetween mix of grinning and not. Making progress on my 2d platformer env thingy. (click thumb for a bigger pic as its quite wide atm)
Lol, I keep seeing this type of fire hydrant posted. I guess its a Digital Extremes art test? I was gonna try to do it myself one night in the 4hr timetable provided just to see if I was up to snuff but couldn't find that type of hydrant in my ref search. Any help?
This was the art test I was working on as well. I was under the gun and wasn't able to finish it since I had to learn max for the test. :) But I think I did pretty well for picking up Max in and getting 3/4 done in 7 days. :D Hopefully they can put me in an internship spot or entry level since I got some maya experience…
