Klash - nice work man, I would say maybe more contrast in the spec to bring out some other details when the light rolls over it, could help make it pop as metal more. the mentalray render looks really flat and clay style. I would definitely recommend putting this in a realtime engine to show it off.
Imslightlybored -> I would give a better presentation of the final result, it's hard to tell how effective your normal maps/specular maps are. Put them on an object in a scene with some lighting to show off how well they can pop. Is the top left biggest image just the diffuse or all maps combined? you should label the maps.
Badass palm! Could use some detail on the shoulder cones though, either some wear to the metal on the edge of the top of it that streaks down, or some horizontal grooves or inset detail to pop those pieces more, rest of it has a lot of nice detail that that area comes off more bland.. Agree with Joey, go with the warmer…
Really great stuff! I am wondering though, did you render out an AO map from your high poly? From the looks of the texture, it looks like you hand painted most of the shadows and detail. I think if you were to render one out, and overlay it on your texture map, it would really make the model pop. Looks great!
@GCMP: Art Institute of Atlanta, Georgia :) @Butt_sahib: Ha, thanks! And I'll try . . . at some point in the future that's hopefully soon >_> @demoncage: Nice! I'm thinking he's really shiny, so I can't wait to see the finished version @Eraserhead: I like it; its well presented and executed. Only thing I think could…
Lots of amazing stuff as always, all!!!! Kite--Looking so great!! I'm so impressed by how this is looking I can barely look away from it... The only thing, and I could be wrong about this, but I feel like something on the body needs to have a 'popping' effect, cause it all seems to be a little too the same at the moment.…
@Racer: I think it would be much more efficient if you used a normal map for the grooves. @Klash: Looking good sir, I can agree with what Frozan has said to give it that extra pop. Do you plan on animating this guy? First major zbrush project, please tell me what you guys think. 1706 tris 2x1024 diffuse, normal, and spec…

i meant expensive in terms of morphing it depending on the cameradistance, lod might be an option but could pop, maybe tricky dither blending could help there smooth alpha blending mitght be too expensive too. if you have a fix cameraposition with no real depth like something like an rts (not with so much depth as a 3rd…
wow some bloody awesome work in all these posts latley, I should get working on something of my own at some point. Zera: nice variations , how long for each texture roughly? maybe some logos/labels might help add some added detail but it looks pretty good as is. Neox: pimp shit as usualy, everything ive seen for airborne…
