WhiteEagle ->nice polywork, I like it. Some sugestions, you have a lot of details here, realy need all of these? For example: What's the polycount of the sword?
Using high polycount is just fine on ps2, the main issue is rather the vram. It's ps2's paradigm: high density meshes with loads of tiny indexed textures. :)

don't be scared to use triangles on your low res mesh if it helps get the polycount down. tried taking your lowest/second lowest subdivisions out of zbrush and using those as a base for your low res mesh?
looking cool Adam, creepy but great so far. Didn't post anything from me for a long time, been busy with school. Anyway here is my entry for DW3. Fighting for 3dtotal, but missing polycount a lot, there absolutely no feedback there... :\
