Just wait Eraserhead, Mr. 'Mylensisbiggerthanyours'.... I'm getting the Minolta 70-300mm (AKA Big Beercan!)....then.....your lens will still be bigger than mine....Damn it! Anyway, this photo actually forced me into buying the lens Sick of taking pics of wildlife and having to crop them down to nothing!
i love manual focus, gives me a lot of creative freedom! sigma lenses i can use obviously, but i've found myself sometimes regretting the decision to go Canon, due to their lenses being sub-par to Nikkon. thing is i really love the interface, the grip, and overall feel of the 450D. i actually have a Sigma 70-200mm lens, is…

almighty - I bought the Sigma off a friend so I don't know too much about it. It's labeled as a 70-300mmD, so I'm not sure what HSM is. Cannon is a great brand of camera though. I went with Nikon because of the fantastic Nikkor lenses, and it was $50 cheaper at the time :) Ancieto - great pics! That last one creeps the…
nice i use a 70-300 nikkor quite a bit, but all my pictures turn out shitty. i thought this was just me. but i did some tests and i went to the store today to checkout another lens, but again all my pictures turn out unsharp (no matter what i try). so im going to send my d200 back and let them checkout whats wrong with it.…
Thanks guys :) @GoSsS: the vast majority of my post process work is done in Canon's DPP (Digital Photo Proffessional), I used to do some more PP tweaks in Photoshop, but now I almost exclusively stay in DPP, it's such a great program. @ JordanW: Great shot; what setup did you use to capture that? Here is another long…
Thanks! I use a Nikon D40 and three lenses. The stock 18-55 for anything from 0-10ft, a Nikkor AF-S 55-200VR for 10-20ft, and a Sigma 70-300mm for 25ft+, usually. The D40 sadly has no AF motor though, so unless the lens has a built-in motor, it's manual focus only (which isn't so bad once you get used to it, actually). The…
The thing that gets me is, why when split focusing was around 40 years ago cant they put it in as standard now? I doesnt make any sense what so ever. I was only using stock college d80's so the lens is gona be cheap and poor (18-70 i believe, and slow at 3.5-4.5). I get what your saying that modern lenses arent designed…
Yeah i didn't mean to imply that you were... implying, that film was better than digital or anything like that, I just got a little carried away nerding out about this stuff! When it comes to Canon dSLRs this is what you really need to know: XXXD Series is the entry level, small uncomfortable bodies, not very good…
