When you were using xnormals cage files- Did you load the ovb file as your lowpoly and click the "use cage" button? Do not attempt to select another cage mesh after doing so as the ovb contains both the cage mesh and the lowpoly. I use xnormal made cages frequently and haven't run into any problems.
This is probably a really stupid question, but I've been trying to normal map a knife. The high poly is exported from zbrush3, and the low from 3dsm. Every time I render, I'm not getting the uv layout from the lowpoly, but instead it's just a planar map. I've tried various formats for the lowpoly, but I can't really edit…
@Johnny. Thanks. I'm investigating. @MM. I bet the magic is on the "Match using: Geometry normals". The other option is "Surface normals". Anybody can explain what's the difference between both, pls? @Nome_sane. So if the vertex normal in the lowpoly is soft then I ray cast as is doing now... but if it's a split…
okidokey this makes me crazy since 3 days :( will send you the sbm of the lowpoly and the obj from the highpoly and the xml file for xnormal thanks in advance
xnormal 3.16.2 beta 1 is available: - Improved memory management ( specially for the images ). You should be able to render bigger images now. - MatchUVs feature. This allows to skip the cage and ray distances setup... but the UVs must match as its name indicates... It's good in case your lowpoly mesh is a subdivision…
