The 3.17.0 b1 is comming soon with these new features: - vertex colors support ( zb/polypaint, max, maya ) + render vertex colors map - Support for OpenCTM compressed meshes. - 10% speed increase courtesy of VS2008+some optimizations.
Try to setup a cage and sure it covers completely the highpoly model. What East said: try the "Average vertex normals" and see if that helps. If not probably it's something related to the exported normals. I can see the face normals in that viewport but not the vertex ones!
Autocon: I think the problem here is the vertex number, since each vertex has a number this changes when you delete faces and so on, I might be wrong tough :) "I only use the push tool and move, rotate, scale faces in max"
There are a few ways of storing vertex colour data in obj format. If you export a an obj from maya with vert colours it would show up in xNormal, whereas a mesh with polypaint directly from zbrush will work. So I'm not sure if xNormal supports the way Faogen encodes vertex data.
[ QUOTE ] The per-vertex AO is nice! It rendered the highpoly AO vertex colors to a lowpoly mesh with 2048 map in 15 secs! [/ QUOTE ] Btw, sure you use the FP16 or FP32 precission to fully-use the GPU. If you set it to CPU will use it only partially ( but sometimes is required if the graphics card cannot support floating…
