when you create a normalmap make sure you bake the triangulated version.. maya for example triangulates different than xnormal, thus producing normalmap errors.
Here's an example from a semi-recent thingie, MoP. Top image is the realtime shot of a tangeant space normal map. Bottom is an insanely poorly lit render. (It was the first time I'd used max.)
Currently that would require too many changes for xn3. Saving all as .SBM should help to load faster. For xn4 I'm adopting import-> "load/save scene" policy instead. You can save your settings as multiple XML files ( for example set1.xml, set2.xml, etc... to a folder... for example to G: "myWork" ) Then, from the command…
xNormal 3.10.0 Beta 1 is out. TONS of changes. www.xnormal.net santyhammer.blogspot.com as usually! Feel free to test ( and remember is a beta, not a stable version! ) btw, I'm looking for a texture baking/transparency/new maps example if somebody is interested.
Is there a way to bake several different maps from the highres to low-res I one go? For example say I have a full set of textures done for the highres and want to bake everything, is there a program that can do such a thing?
Woooot! XYnary! Thanksssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss a lot! I finally discovered the misalignment AO/normal map bug! ( and was thanks to your example! ) I'm fixing it now! Web down :P I'm uploading the patched version now. It will be available soon.
right, here is a better shot. I am just checking "smooth normals" is this not a desirable way of doing things? I'm sure it has something to do with it, but have seen countless examples of the same stuff that do work. Example 2
Hey jogshy , somehow none has the time to post good cavity maps example , but ill give you some links to zbrushed images that use them . ill be putting them later since i have a fluu and going into delirium
I am just finishing a few details and going to put a v3.8.0 this week. Will have the new base texture bake and other things. Finally I decided to make other really-ugly programmer's art example to show the new feature mwaaaaa! See ya soon.
I did a test render yesterday and got some visible seams where i have uv seams placed, also theres some noticeable seems on that example model as well. Mop: how did you get your model to render out without any seams?
