As promised, here's a blog post with a little breakdown on my Spiral Generator node. https://www.artstation.com/rosko/blog/zXgW/substance-designer-spiral-generator
This one is pretty interesting, I'm fascinated by the challenge of figuring out these wires. I don't think I have ever seen a procedural wire system in Substance Designer before.
Finally had some time for a substance challenge. Tried to make the planks parametric in this one. Number/rotation/size/scale can be changed to some extent. More than 12 planks needs some extra tweaking though. :( Iray renders.
First time participating in the substance challenge. Wanted to join in for a long time. Thank you for putting those up! Trying to get the hight informations right. But couldn´t resist to lay down some details here and there. I´m not very happy with the wood planks. They will be the next thing to fix tomorrow.
If it's any help i didn't focus on accuracy or realism with my substance. I tried at first but really couln't figure out how to direct lines on the paths i wanted them to go. Instead i settled for a random greeble approach and then just tried to make it read as circuit board with the colors and the little random…
Little update, tackled the inner wheel bits. Pleased with how I'm still in control of this substance, getting better at managing big scenes and keeping nodes going into my height more minimal. I've laid it out in a way that I could do the sides and back and map it onto a 3D mesh but I still have so much more to do to just…
So the glyph extraction works fine, But i think with the limited ammount of programming possibilities inside of Substance (no loops) and no textinputs (at least in SD 5.x) making it more or less impossible to build up the graph. I thought about creating a tool that combines the textinformations and Atlas informations into…
Hey @CharlyBrownP (and anyone else?) I noticed your tape had depth here, am guessing it was a combination of height/opacity. I really tried doing this with my tape but found it difficult to get right without some 'weirdness' (especially on the sides). I'm guessing you have since left this idea behind because on discord…
Trying to do M&M's. Mainly just for educational reasons because I'm having another go at something that beats me every single time I attempt to create natural overlapping elements. This is my general setup (multiplied many times), tile generator (trying both ADD and MAX blends) where I place them in a BLEND with a mask. So…
