Sorry to hear that the project died :( To be honest I was wondering how Blizzard would of handled having two separate MMOs without competing with itself (Business-end wise), unless Titan was supposed to be vastly different from WoW.
I've always liked that Blizzard would rather cancel a title than put out something that didn't meet their expectations, even after this long of time. It flies in the face of all the rushed or yearly released things that you see nowadays.
Timing was very crucial to WOW's success when it first launched. At the time, there wasn't anything quite like it, now the MMORPG market is quite saturated. The industry as a whole has leveled up quite dramatically as well. I hope they find a way to use some of the assets that were created for Titan on a different project.…
I feel sorry for all the dudes that joined the team. What a huge waste of time and effort. I'm glad i declined the job offer around 2007-2008. Too many ex-blizzard workers are now in Riot Games, including the recruiter :).
Polygon article reply that made my day: "Now that Destiny has officially launched, Blizzard is safe to announce that they've cancelled Titan, when really they just gave away much of the work they had done to Bungie, who then finished and released the game.”
So what ? We don't know what is was beyond MMO. I guess it never left prototype stage with white boxes and and random art pulled from other games ;). Besides that, I never expected anything good from Blizzard MMO, looking at WoW.
I really just hope no-one is let go because of this decision. I do feel sorry for all of the individuals that worked hard on this project with probably nothing tangible to show for it now. But I do really admire Blizzard for pulling the plug on a project that they feel will not deliver the way they want it to. This is not…
Unit, you really shouldn't have an attitude towards Blizzard like that. That is how people get crappy wages being told "You should be honored to work for us." kind of thing going on. You should never feel lucky to work somewhere because that is when the company can start taking advantage of you. It is probably one of the…
This is pretty much how I look at it. First of all, as far as I know, there haven't been layoffs from this. It looks like everyone is getting moved to other projects so, unless people are leaving of their own accord, not showing off assets in a portfolio is a moot point. (though I still imagine it sucks) I agree with…
Sad to hear Titan got canceled. I was looking forward to what Blizzard might have shown. MMOs dont seem to be as big as they were say 4 or 5 years ago. The people who made WOW hit 13 million subs ( i think it was 13 mil) like and including me have all aged a fair deal and dont have time for the massive time sink an MMO…
