Here is a quick update. Everything was blocked out in UE4, and imported into Maya so I could start creating assets. Im still getting used to this pipeline and moving back and forth between programs. Anywho, here is the Maya model so far.
Pretty happy with the texturing so far. Apparently the reason the bricks looked so strange was because I didn't have xnormal setup correctly for making proper normal maps for UE4. Got it all worked out and I think it looks a lot better.
Very nice Zocky. I didn't get much done on this one spent to much time either playing with blueprint in UE4 or procrastinating. I think next month I might just give the prop concept ago rather than the main one. Here's my progress though.
Since im currently working on the Stargate SG1 scene on UE4, and I want to participate in this one, I will just be doing the well prop instead of this whole scene. Here is what I have so far. Also it seems like the concept's perspective is a little off. If we go by how the concept looks then the well is actually an oval,…
Looking SWEET. Will be my first attempt at using UDK and will start with UE4 to pickup a PBR workflow. May I ask what units others have done the stairs/steps? I did 8 but the Unreal guide suggests 16 units for a step... despite this concept having quite small steps... Will post my blackout tonight Cheers Dave
Everyone's blockouts are looking nice. @Zockey - I'm really looking forward to your final result after the Buddhist temple you did. Very well done! Here's my blockout and if anyone's interested I put up a quick tutorial on taking high res screenshots in UE4. I can only hope it's helpful to someone :)…
@Zocky Really nice:poly142: I think i am done with that prop. Learned some interesting stuff and a took a step into UE4. I've altered the diffuse texture a little, made emissive map thicker, changed UV layout to use mirrored UVs. I've tweaked lerp mask for the moss in the cracks as Jack suggested. I think i failed…
Update for today on the well. Spent some time taking a step back and figuring out how approach the bricks for the well. Decided to go with having all of the bricks be individual and then I will go in and add detail. I know it isn't as fast as have modular pieces and such but since I just want to make it look as interesting…
Achillesian, that is a pretty sick pot. I cant wait to model mine :D Jack, thanks for the Youtube UE4 tut. I had originally just taken a screenshot but I can imagine this trick will come in handy later on. Now for my environment. I think, after working on this for a while today, I am finally getting the hang of the UE…
Did courtyard rock stones today but something looks off i cant get my fingers on. Will move on with other stuff anyway. Was away for a while so was unable to reply :P @Dave: i'll probably be using udk but using marmoset to test out pieces. UE4 is still really slow and buggy for me... and about steps i tell everyone i just…
