These hand painted textures are really awesome. Especially that pig, so well done and even comes apart into pieces. Loving your sketchbook. Definitely subbing. :3
Last year I had an assignment to make a really simple handpainted dungeon, here are some screenshots from maya. Here are some of the textures, everything was 512x512.
These are quite impressive! This is exactly the kind of stuff I want to learn how to do, but I don't know where to start! Your textures have such life even in the simplest objects!
you have a really great, and unique style. also ur handpainted textures are really good! keep up the good work, cant wait to see more work on that game :)
Instead of producing something important, I thought I'd try my hand at some foliage so I made this fern for my current project: The texture was just a 512x512 with an alpha channel
Well Drayzers, I'm definitely no expert and I'm still trying to find what works and what doesn't. I think the key is not making textures too noisy, just use higher contrast in areas to bring out certain details. Colour variation is pretty important and something I don't do enough of - I have a pretty bad grasp of colours…
I recently made this stone wall texture and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out, the secret seems to be using a gradient to make it darker at the base. Still, I think I might go further with it and add some moss or something.
That weird monster head I started has been sitting around for a while, so I decided to keep mucking around with it - here's where it's at now. If I keep working on it, I'd like to do a dirty retopo and have a go at painting a texture for it.
Thanks Darren, I only started dabbling in handpainted textures at the end of last year so you can get pretty far with enough practice and inspiration (there is some awesome stuff here on polycount). Let me know if you ever want comments/crits on your stuff.
Still alive and plugging away on stuff - had plenty of time recently to make this derpy little guy. Any crits on texture would be good before I move on further. I want to push the presentation, so I even went to the effort of rigging it and the plan is to show it off with some animations and maybe a little environment in…
