Maybe you could make an incentive where people show their most helpful shaders, and take the 5 or so most helpful and put them in your example shaders, and award those people a free license , that could be fun and win/win for everyone I guess Most people are no tech artists and more example shaders would surely help a lot,…
The alpha invites have now been sent out to all of you who signed up! Be sure to read the documentation and such :) Enjoy! Here are the example shaders currently included in SF Alpha 0.03:
I baked high poly for this example. You could also baked normal poly, but it's often best to get the best result from the original, rather than calculating the one that are already baked.
SO i'm toying with shader forge for a while, but don't understand how to set up the pot effect shader in practice? any example? step by step instruction? I find nothing by googling :(
There shouldn't be any issues with the vertex color node - it looks like the painted mesh isn't cleanly painted though, looking at the channels in photoshop. @nbac: I've planned to release an example shader and tutorial for it soon :)
It would be great if you added tooltips what each individual node does. Its not obvious for the normal person that vertex is a color node per example, let alone the complex ones. Looks really promising
I threw together a PBR shader in Shader Forge, thanks to the custom lighting functionality. Based on this here code. Here are some example results: The node graph is a bit too big to show in screenshots :P
is it possible to group these by function type? for example when i right click could i see: math - dot, arcos, arcsin, arctan, sqrt. constants - vector1, vector2, vector3, vector4, pi, tau, e. etc.
I think you have enough buzz going around to sell it, the name is out there, people know it. I'd say bring some of the greatest features of interface, easy to use, some example shaders done with it and that should work.
Also, a node like the "objectRadius" in the UDK would be huge. http://udn.epicgames.com/Three/MaterialsCompendium.html#ObjectRadius and here a example of use. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YMvg8dHet5E"]CGMasterTraining: UDK Intelligent Materials - Scale Aware Tiling - YouTube[/ame]
