Wow, there are some great blockouts already! I'll start mine tonight or tomorrow, still need to finish last month's challenge :poly122: If you prefer saving your udk files into your project folder you can still do that! You just need to open your package(s) with the little folder button next to "Import" (below the package…
This project will mostly be a texture study project, so I might not get everything done, but I really want to nail down whatever I do work on. Anyways, I was sick most of this week but got a chance to make the concrete barrier. Let me know if you have any critiques!
Right ! I don't know what's wrong but i just can't get what i want on the texture... Any advice link on texturing and how does specular work with concrete ? Is it supposed to look like Udk's plastic style shader ? :) Is the one below a little better than the first one ? [sketchfab]35f5ERHxc3BSrEldRkv9pmTJH8u[/sketchfab]
Not at all fifftyframes. A lot of people have used Unity for past projects and they have created some very good looking scenes. It's a good engine to try out if your new to in-engine art. Well, i like it anyways :) Manticora - All good sir. Just carry on working as hard as you are and then the world is your Oyster! Change…
When you import things into udk, is there anyway to make it so when you place them in the scene to test them that, they get placed in the same postions? I've got over 20+ little boxes to represent concrete blocks and no idea where to place them. Do i have to place each model manually within udk? here's what i've got so far:
Started working on the barriers too, gotta love concrete creations x3 It's essentially just 2 models with 2 textures, nothing fancy, since I won't be using UDK (clue 1) I can't really do any Noderickery on my end, so I'll mostly rely on simple color textures and normal maps. (That white spot on the rusted hook seems to be…
In a game you kinda have to get away from that type of noise and contrast, it atracts the eyes too much and you lose the scene as a whole. Also, even if you really really want that detail, at 512px/m that kind of small detail will not read well in the texture and if you go above 512px/m that texture will make a hole in the…
No, you can use any game engine you like ;) Most people are using UDK or Cry Engine, but you don't have to. @ LANKUS MAXIMUS: Haha, thanks :) Actually, I normally like the view, I see more hills than concrete :) What's grey is mostly the sky, it's been cloudy and rainy and cold for days now. You think I can learn to…
I have been watching these on the freeway as I drive by lately. One thing I notice is that they are very rough in texture. Even the old ones aren't eroded. They have some damage, but from the initial pour of concrete they have this really rough texture. This is not exactly it, but kind of what I have seen: I will be…
I'm focussing on adding detail, so it would be great to get some input for my concrete barrier highpoly before I'm doing the lowpoly. I will do a second, more damaged version afterwards, so I modeled the "inner life" of the barrier to bring out parts of it. Of course I will add some damage to the visible parts of that,…
