from what i have been reading i'm not sure you will be able to play 'any' games unless your connected to there servers and can validate your keys. they keep a record of every game you have purchased. if you sell that game your key is revoked to play that game. at some point your box has to connect to the server to see if…
while disks can be copied easily it works for them now. Sure there are mod chips, flashed, etc but for common end users this could be a good solution. I am reserving judgement until it comes out. If they do indeed require constant net connections it will be a blow to them in my opinion as military guys and many other…
The Xbox has to connect and touch the servers to authenticate once a day. If you can't connect, it disallows you to play any game. Not arcade, not single player. Nothing. You can still use the cable and Blu-Ray functions but all gaming is disabled. So, here's hoping you don't move and have to wait for your ISP to get off…
It also says in the same paragraph - "We are also designing it so you can play games and watch Blu-ray movies and live TV if you lose your connection."
http://news.xbox.com/2013/05/qa A console that requires an internet connection? That's a deal breaker for me. So glad Sony seems to be doing things right, because no one else is.
This textdump is very misleading indeed. "We have 48 million Xbox 360 users connected online nearly 24 hours a day. That is much more than any of our closet competitors and vastly more than Steam." Stopped reading right there. Because (I estimate) there are roughly 60~65 million active* accounts on Steam by now. They had…
@Jesse we do not know if that would be possible or not at this point. but i suspect that as an anti piracy precaution validation on there servers will be mandatory. an internet connection is 'required'. its not optional. disks can be copied very easily.
The 24 hour time limit is arbitrary, you can make your DRM check in as much or as little as you want. By the way another big advantage to requiring users to at least connect to the internet at least once to set up the game is that you can prevent pre-release piracy (which has been an ongoing problem for the 360) by…
