There is still no Houdini Engine implementation for UE4, but you can export FBX from Houdini. And with source code for it, it wouldn't be a problem to create custom exporter or reader for Houdini native file format. There is also Alembic in plans for UE4 that is already in Houdini. I've been using metaballs in Houdini for 3-4 years for particles sim's... etc. but never for modeling. *shrugs* I hate the thought of having to model again procedurally in Houdini :(
I figured out the meshes were not showing up - I exported them from Houdini FX. I resave them in Blender and they show up. But for me no .obj directly from Houdini works.
Hey guys! Do you know any good resources (tutorials and presentations) for procedural world / city generation? Maybe something that includes Houdini as well, but not necessarily. Also what tutorials would you recomend to get started with Houdini?
Houdini was a niche high end (back when there was such a thing) 3d app that used to sell for tens of thousands of dollars. It looks like Houdini Master is now about 8 grand. No idea what kind of functionality it offers.
