Hi Polycount! I'm new to polycount and to 3d modeling. I have very basic skills in Maya and slightly more in 3DS Max. Right now I'm working on a simple model of an old radio. If anyone has any advice for an amateur modeler, I'd love to hear it! Thanks! Happy to be online :) Nicole
Just updating links send by @Eric Chadwick: "Some good reading...": Polygon Count - polycount; "Empty distance between UV islands is needed for texture filtering.": Edge padding - polycount.
Using the Step-Down method to reduce polycount and cut back on unnecessary edge loops: (Not that I particularly need to keep a low polycount for my purposes but it's never a bad idea to bone up on proper modeling practices)
Did you upload lower res images to polycount than to artstation? Its hard to read the text here on polycount. I like the details like the scratches on the suspension, whats the resolution for the textures? Looks great
Shamble on with your bad self! That's pretty awesome I think you just won the thread. And no I wasn't around Polycount back in the Quake days (was polycount even around then?) but I played enough quake to know.
Ive just been adding people that were in the polycount group, then you can select the group option and select polycount, that way they know why your adding them, and if your not in the group yet you should be :D
Hello polycount! It's long overdue that I started getting my work out there, I've been wanting to join the polycount community for quite some time. Time to sketchbook. Modeling. Some concepting. Maybe some animation. Feedback encouraged :icon60: Edit: Recent work
Do you pay a fee to be able to go into Polycount? if you payed for Polycount would you expect to see lots of advertisement all over the place? Ditto on addblocker tho. lol
I don't know what it's setup like that, in my Polycount profile it's just 'www.env-art.com' When I made it a hyper link in signature, it seems to automatically add the polycount bit.
I haven't done freelance work in a while, but when I did get freelance work it was always through polycount. either polycounters or people who just browse P&P.
