Ok thanks. Here's my portfolio btw if you want to critique.. www.artstation.com/artist/samgalloway Course/tutorials any recommendations greatly appreciated for how to paint textures or general workflow. Not looking for magic, I usually play tanks anyway ;) One style I'd like to make assets in is like similar to that of…
Yeah I would agree with Noia. You really should focus on your personal life first. You sound like you have a lot of things that take precedent. Games will not be the magical rainbow that fixes everything. I'm not sure how you're homeless and have enough power to run your laptop all day?
I don't have the original scene anymore so it's not an option :( I still prefer to work with scalar displacements because you can alter then in paint programs, vector you can't, unless there is some magical vector paint program I'm unaware off that may help for future ? Those spikes are annoying when rendering.
The best thing to do, is exactly what you are doing. By testing yourself out in these Monthly challenges, they will always push you to learn new stuff! =) Just by doing these 2 things (drawer and fan) I've learned more about Sub-d and texturing! Can't wait too se what magic you'll bring forth in the future!
cool tip fletch! quadrify modifier didnt come to my mind! modifier magic ftw if you want to push the procedural/non destructive idea, you could even use an NGon shape (or other predefined) and put a X/Y noise onto it. the ngon should have an interpolation step size of 1, to be not too curvy

In the game, there's a resource called Arkanium that is essentially a liquid, almost oil, like substance that not only powers things, but allows for conventional magic casting. So on his gloves are Arkanium oil stains. Regarding bigger details, that is definitely lacking in this model at the moment, and something, at least…
haha 4D, no, Im just trying to say that if you have a scene made of 10 objects, you might want to plan your stuff out yourself and decide how many pixels you want per meter/foot, instead of unwrapping everything square and hope that a magic script will adjust it all for you :D

Horse combat would definitely be awesome, not just jousting. I want to use swords, fire arrows and cast magic from horseback. Also, UI - good god I can't stress that enough. The game needs a UI mod PC pronto. As for a pcount challenge, that would be awesome once the tools come out :D
