Awesome thank you so much for the analysis! You have a lot more advice than I've gotten from most people ;) Yes for sure I was being sloppy with the tree placement and the rocks. I am still trying to figure out what rock models I should be creating to get a pleasing look to the piece.
top work! has a nice diablo3 feel to me but with a more painted look. for the last picture i would recommend a slight stronger main light because some forms get a bit flat esspecially the rocks behind the tree. maybe you could add some fireflies over the rocks to shape the form better...
Where's the headsets btw? I hear they have mobile wi-fi connections, when not be yelling at newbs when you slam into a wall? What I'd prefer is a portable Rock Band setup, say you're BBQing at the beach, open the trunk and you got a big screen TV and Rock Band ready to go, THAT would be pimpin.
@Marchwarden: I saw your post after I posted last week. I did like the idea of tapering the building, but I didn't have enough in my poly budget to get curvy wood going. So I settled for the middleground and just tapered the house with the polys I have on the wood now. Thanks for the tip! @futurepoly: Thanks! :) It's good…
I did not understand the hype surrounding Arkham Asylum But assumed there was something other than the crudely modeled/textured thugs that I must be missing. ( I thought Bioshock was goty even with it's immature character art, rubber clothing and heavily compressed low rez textures ) So I would like to think I generally…
Ha! Funny you should say that - I was modelling cliffs and rocks this evening and will update tomorrow! About vertex colour, I would have used it if there were more than one of those in the scene, but since I only need one, I figured I'd just texture it the ol' fashioned way. I'll probably use vertex colouring on the…
Thanks for all the crits guy! I am thinking of leaving out the rocks from the concept because I feel if there was a wall on either side that would be holding up the door not the rocks. I rounded up the top section a bit and darkened the wood. Up next im doing some research as to what kind of wall would be connected to it…
Here is the concept update! (only the hair changed on the side view) I decided to change the rocks on the shoulders and her hair as the rock on her sleeves were much closer to a "volcanic" feel. I will tweak the number of detail while doing the 3Dmodel so it gets more readable in game :3 As usual, any feedback is…
It feels awkward that the rocks on the ground are smaller now. For people to lay out rocks on the ground that small so orderly seems less realistic than if they were a larger size. They may have been too large before, maybe something in between? I'm not much of an environment artist, just wanted to throw out there what I…
