use the vertex normal edit tool in maya. just give the corresponding vertices similar settings and everything will be fine. you could also edit the settings with the set vertex normal tool. or last but not least go into the component editor and edit the values there.
Looks to me like that one row of connecting vertex points has some funky vertex normals going on. Tried displaying them? Using component editor to read the normal values? Like Neox suggested. Unlocking normals should fix this.
Not sure what your asking.. are you asking how to duplicate a vertex or an object? If its an object and you have a vertex selected. you can get the object name with `ls -hl`. also a better board might be on CGTalk. on the Mel thread.
Vertex painting is pretty fun to set up, you can usually do up to four vertex effects, using the four channels (R,G,B, and A) to 'pretty-uo' the surface. You just need to 'stack' the layers in a logical order.
Why do you have so many edge loops everywhere? Did you plan to do vertex paint or vertex blending? If not, get rid of all these edges and use the spared triangles to add more interesting props to your scene :)
in edge mode backspace --> delete edge only ctrl + backspace --> delete edge + vertex in vertex mode backspace --> delete only floating verticies (you could select all verticies for the mesh but it will only delete verticies with two connecting edges)
I would try something like this: - Use a texture baking tool to bake ambient occlusion to the vertex colors. - Select all vertices that are black. - Invert the selection and grow it once (so we don't delete faces that have one black vertex). - Delete.
I agree with you, so i will weld this vertex on the front. but why he does a circle on the one ine the back and say that.. i dont know. If someone knows, says mee! :) ( and yes this vertex in the back is useful ) Thanks guy for the time spent for me.
I'm confused.. do you vertex blend those two textures together in UDK or decal one on top of the other. Someone drop a key word I can google to research this technique please! I'm assuming you are vertex blending those, right?
Vertex Paint between three materials and add a few decals is a good start. [ame]www.youtube.com/watch?v=p6O4AgSwTmQ[/ame] And to pimp it up vertex paint some puddles. [ame] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e2ibwXHZL6g[/ame] Good luck and enjoy.
