Thanks! I use unity because its what I use at the studio I work at. We've been eyeing Unreal for years obviously- and I come from a vfx / film background so its even more tempting to me. We make a lot of training simulation stuff and our programmers / engineers prefer Unity.
I want to tell you how I was doing a character for the contest AIE The education experts in games, 3D & VFX. Just a little talk will share experiences. At the end of this article will be the end result. And also link where you can see the 3D model of the character. So. Detailed description of the character creation.…
Yep - most particals systems for games are in engines so grab the latest unreal or unity and just mess around. Its pretty simple stuff once you get going to just get some cool looking stuff. Much harder to make GOOD OPTIMIZED vfx. Tons of learning resources around for both as well.

Yeah, it's Chapter 11. Hopefully the studio pulls through and you guys can get back to work. It just boggles the mind how a studio can produce immensely successful VFX and still have trouble making ends meet. Something has to be done to get profits back in line so studios can actually operate.
After putting aside money for my parents and brother, and money for me to be able to live nicely and comfortably I'd buy or build my own pool hall for starters. As for continuing to work, I think I'd start up my own VFX house, and steal the best talent from ILM, Digital Domain, and WETA.
My last update before xmas. Any crit at this stage would be great as I am planning on finishing the modelling/texturing side of this pretty soon and get into the VFX, cameras and stuff. Still to do.... Gate holder/dampeners Get Machine guns in Work out what to do with behind windows Create "gate sequence"
Hey Adam, We're actually starting some VFX work in a wind waker style so we've got this art all over the place and at the front of our heads.. I would love to speak with you about taking on this work.. Do you have all of the concepting done or would you like some help with that as well?
Totally depends on your asset. Use the tri-planar node to do what you're talking about in most cases. But for things like clothing and specific anisotropic grain direction you will need to re position your UVs. (we always make sure to properly align the uv shells for both orientation and scale in production for vfx)
Here's my portion of what I made so far. I'm a VFX artist, so I'll be mainly posting up images and short clips of my effects for this environment. What I have here is an energy effect that will be radiating off the crystal below the throne. [ame]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eIXpc0Es-DY[/ame]
