Hi there, Polycount :3 I am working on an aircraft with owl face, and I'd like to share with you my progress in hopes of feedback or notes to keep in mind. The concept is a mush of many different things, the most prominent of which are taken from concepts for Allods Online. I am in the early stage of making it, and I'd…
I like it! I'm not feeling the part intersecting the cockpit though, it's too jarring. I think it does need something raised towards the back though ala the tail of an aircraft. Also maybe you could look into radial engines for the engine design.
@CarlCraft Hahahaha, yeah wasn't quite sure what I was thinking with that part of the scene, I think I just wanted things to seem more dramatic XD. Thanks a ton, I learned a lot and getting feedback is always so good!
The overall look and feel is great, reminds me of the starcraft 1 marine trailer! the video was very cool but textures looked quite low res or maybe it was just video compression, in contrast those screenshots in this thread are really detailed! really impressed by those.
* Star Wars MMO * Gears of War 3 and the new IP from People can fly. * Modern warfare 2 anything * Starcraft 2 info * new game from 2K Boston * God of war 3 * ps3 price drop finally
@CarlCraft @McDev That's good to know! I was mostly concerned about overlapping UVs when working with separate meshes. Thank you so much for answering my questions! It really helped me understanding a lot about uv and baking. I really appreciate you taking time to share your knowledge :)
So if I understand correctly you don't need help with the technique itself but rather how to decide where to place the panel lines? Because then you should really just look at reference. Current day aircraft carriers, subs, planes etc. And other sci fi (concept) art. http://conceptships.blogspot.co.uk/
Also concept artist Mr--Jack, aka Luke Mancini. "Imported" by Blizzard from Australia and discovered thru his deviantart gallery. He graduated from arts college so that presumably helped out his visa application process a lot. http://mr--jack.deviantart.com/art/StarCraft-Nostalgia-362313434
Notman, I almost wrote the same thing about Megatron and Starscream. I guess I can accept Megatron, but robot Starscream barely look anything like he was made out of aircraft parts. The identical palette also was an issue. It's not right to see Starscream without wings and a lot of red highlights.
