In Maya, Inset is the Extrude tool's offset feature. Beside the speedier pinch sculpting... Inset functionality improvements via offset slider enhancement was the only other Modeling feature added. ( every slider/virtual slider in Maya should respect the ctrl modifier sensitivity. The offset slider is now virtual so there…
i wish to learn more about low poly character for 3dsmax Make sure that you have instant keyboard shortcuts for the core operations (merge verts to center, extrude edge, fill gap, insert loop, flatten face) and ... that's all there is to it really. From there study the mesh structure of models taken from games that are…
The black band that
cirlces around the forehead of the storm trooper is extruded in the
ref , but not in your model. Seems like the bottom part of the helmet
is kinda bigger in the ref as well. The materials you
made do not seem to match the ref either, it looks like a thick shiny
smooth plastic kinda paint. Yours looks…
I've been using Silo on a daily basis since 1.42 as well. I hope we don't have to wait this long for the next update. Improved stability, bug fixes and addition of as few as 3 features(solid chamfer(edge extrude in Max), distance based edge slide and straighten UVs) would stop me from switching between programs while…
Thanks for the advice! I was getting a very similar vibe when transferring it to the low poly. I was kinda hoping the normals would make it pop a little. Since I'm doing pretty well on the poly count, near finishing, I may extrude some polys to make it stand out a little more. Edit: I do still have to bake out the AO and…
I would explode it into separate elements and use auto smooth on each. Then piece by piece check if auto smooth did what you wanted. If not, correct it and unwrap each piece. Then merge it into one object and unwrap it to pack uvs. Doesn't look like it has SSSSSOOOOOOOOOO many pieces. On the front where you have those 2…
Well, I usually add a Projection cage to my Low poly mesh in Max (in the modifier dropdown). Extrude the cage until it fully encompasses the High poly mesh. Also make sure you add an Edit Mesh modifier in-between the Editable Poly and the Projection cage so xNormal can export it correctly. Then export the low poly as .sbm…
Consider using decimation master in zbrush than minor fixes in maya or whatever 3D program you use to get your low mesh. I can usally get really good topo results without having to do a retopo which takes longish regardless which tool. I agree you could also get more shape on the rock. Having those rock planes sticking out…
I would imagine its "eyes" should be more together than what you have, in case you want to fit that painted skull on there. Even so, that could easily be fixed post. if you'd make the main body a bit taller then you could lengthen the upper arm a bit more. And extrude the upper shoulder bolts a bit to fit the paintings, if…
Those new brushes for hard surfacing are the fave feature for me, along with goZ- Zspheres II...we'll see :) But there are soooo many cables, wire and other small surface detailing that I've been using extrude along curves in maya that I could now just draw on- awesome! can't wait to get me email from pixo! ~P~ PS although…
