I usually just have Editable Poly (converted from any useful primitive), then Symmetry on top of that, then Turbosmooth on top of that. I try not to ever put any Edit Poly stuff on top of Turbosmooth, only ever parametric stuff like FFD (same as Maya's Lattice deformers), or Bend/Twist etc. Stuff that won't be affected by…
Congrats, Skrubbles, this one came out great! The face is superb. The arms strike me as the weakest part of the character. The FFX esque sleeve looks out of place, and the other arm is rather dull. Nothing wrong, they just don't seem to be on par with the rest of the model. Saved to reference folder for sure.
Really nice work here Lupus, looks like you've put a ton of effort in, and it really shows. I love the upper back arm things, they look awesome here. However, there were a few issues that I think would REALLY improve this model and make it truly excellent... fortunately mostly i think they can be done just by simple…
The only reason why I would recommend Max or Maya as a "Modeler", is because they have "bones", and once you've got used to skinning, you can exploit this knowledge to speed up modeling. It's quicker than FFDs/Lattices for making proportion adjustments. If your on a budget, Silo for modeling and you can use Blender for…
Funny GTA:SA parody comic on Penny Arcade yesterday featuring the Fruit Fucker character ... And a wallpaper of it... http://www.penny-arcade.com/redir.php?url=http://www.penny-arcade.com/dl/ffwall.jpg
I was at play toronto a couple years ago... I was slightly disappointed, I was hoping for more oldschool arrangements and they played all the new games that were sort of meh since they were already orchestrated on the game scores. The chronotrigger suite was too short, as was the castlevania one... and I was really hoping…
I use my install of Photoshop 6 for pixel art, using the pencil tool for details. ImageReady came with the install, and is useful for animations, and setting up palettes (master palettes). I'm currently working on a project creating games for the DS. One DS screen is 256x192. For images that take up both screens, there is…
Talbots got a good point with the rope. You might want to distort and twist or FFD some of the pieces to give them age and character. A lot can be said with some gentle bends and pushed around verts. But even then its a great model the way it is, really nice work!
FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU I mean its wicked cool and all but daaaang. First thing i see is a big freaking eye staring me down. Nearly crapped my pants here! ;O
