@jewski-bot no that actually helps a lot! All the tutorials I've found show hand-painting in photoshop, but not how to apply it to a mesh and make it look good in terms of surface detail and such if that makes sense. I have a hard time wrapping my head around it...
I'm trying to get accustomed to working in PBR and this tutorial helped me wrap my head around a few things that I was just missing. Thanks! Looks like you have a lot of helpful stuff posted which I'll definitely be using. Subbed.
thanks guys, i'm gonna try to finish 1 prop everyday or two and have this thing wrapped up within a couple weeks. sltrOlsson, i was planning yeah on a mixture of debris 3d meshes and yep flat geo card decals and the decal actor
graphite tools, wrap-it is pretty handy but less essential post 'conform' brush. I've used zremesher for quick results, usually there a load of spirals to sort out though, but it's great for workflow if not final topology. Never got on with 3dcoat, topogun or zbrush retopo tools.
Here's what I have so far. I've been trying to wrap my head around how best to make the gloves, so that should be in the next update, but I'd love to get some feedback on what I've gotten done so far.
Wrapping up on the highpoly! Got the sword in the works now and I think I'll re-do the cloak towards the end once I've posed him and modeled some stairs for it to drape over! Let me know if you have any crits though!
I think I'm finally wrapping my mind around PBR now. Just a bit further to go. I appreciate the feedback, however that render was done as a class project and now that the class has ended, I'm not looking to spend any more time on it.
great stuff nevermind, the flipped one on page one is my favourite. the one above me is cool too, not too keen on the highlight on the boots though looks like wraps but reads like plastic. That all I got, again really cool stuff.
More recent update, only got a little less then a week left ahead of me, so gonna wrap this up soon and move onto the next piece! Still a bit more left to do on the background and such. Let me know what you think!
Thanks for the feedback all, I appreciate it and agree! Here is an update with a simpler shape. Changing the pommel to an eagle claw instead. I still wanna try to have the grip be a wrapped white thread like in the ref collage. But it may change once I'm modeling.
