I would start with turning on "echo all commands" in the script editor. This will show most commands you need for scripting. -

The functionality is there and present in the UI, the scripts are for convenience. You can't tell me you don't use any Modo scripts. -

Absolutely yes. As well as the runtime scripting you have construction scripts that run in editor - which is where you'd do the work.
