thanks for replying this quickly, i was thinking to create a substance painter plugin to bake height maps, but after researching a littlebit it sems damn near impossible (limited API)
I wanted to show quickly some progress shots so here they are: And some textures. This was made in Cryengine 3.5.8 so everything is using the pre-PBR way of texturing.
MOAR Contrast!!! Here is an image literally all I did was do an auto levels and then a slight desturation. Might be worth a try to quickly auto level your textures.
Working on a mill turned military outpost: Just a concept model, thrown together quickly and quite badly optimized - will redo this concept as an actual game model for exporting later.

RJBonner makes a good point. You can quickly mask out the noisy details in your texture by using an Ambient Occlusion map as your mask and then adjusting the levels.
