I agree wholeheartedly. Animation, audio, and VFX all deserve a lot more budget than they typically get. Animation is getting a little bit of improvement with mocap this gen, but mocap can only take you so far.
The art and tech behind is from outer space. I have no idea how they animate such massive data. https://www.artofvfx.com/alita-battle-angel-eric-saindon-vfx-supervisor-mike-cozens-animation-supervisor-weta-digital/
Damn, looks good. I would so play this. Is this in Bill Kladis' portfolio, where he shows the car at the stop light, with the exhaust fumes, etc. I always loved that bit. He is my favourite VFX artist.
http://www.leighvanderbyl.com/texture-painting-faq/ its from vfx industry professional texture artist, but i think is applicable to gamedev. If you wanna do something stylized, paint textures by yourself and use photos for realistic work
Hi guys I am very excited about the new contest from RIOT. Last time I participated in the section of Character Art. In VFX I will participate for the first time. I hope this will be at least fun. last Update https://youtu.be/riLEPqhCxJM
@Jonathan85 Yeah on the face of it, an outlier non specific CG hub but although I've just joined, had already met up with a couple of VFX software engineers plus one games tech artist and considering the volume of traffic this channel attract's probably a few moar industry people besides.
How do all those sour grapes taste? Jesus. Some dude made a little VFX short, got lucky and got a movie deal out of it and teh interwebs hordes fall all over themselves trying to tear the guy and his little movie apart. how petty.
It also helps to find breakdowns/demo reels of VFX Movies. It's better than just watching a tutorial IMO. A good one that comes to mind is Eiti Sato's "Sixteen". Absorb everything you see from the beginning to end, and just try and match it in complete detail. https://vimeo.com/227294678
This will make certain types of vfx very cheap. It could allow you to choose who you want in the roles of a movie, including yourself, combined with synthetic audio. Porn. Can of course be used unethically, but mind your own business.
Rayfire ;) [ame] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u_2qKQpxCRw[/ame] Generally if you look into any physics simulation stuff used in the movie VFX industry, that stuff tends to be pretty good (and sounds exactly like what you're after).
