      I wonder how this will work with floating licenses? Can I just install my software on as many computers as possible?

      I'm not sure. I use Max, which does have one. Maybe there might be a Maya script floating about.

      I'm getting some overlapping in IE7/8. Basically the menu floats over the images / text which is aligned to the top.

      Cool model and design! I hate that word "floater". It reminds me of floating corpses in a lake somewhere. But that's just me.

      Floating mesh works just fine, with alpha blending. This is typically how games do it, for graffiti and the like.
