Painted Metal is a material in PBR which a lot of people get wonky about. The issue is: The paint is non-metallic! This means the metalnes value have to be zero (black) for this material. What you can do to give it some "metal-feeling" is to remove paint at some edges (edge wear) and show some metal there (with a metalnes…
@Toku thx mate. the cloth on the bed was a little bit tricky, had to watch several cloth tutorials and ended up with a not-so-trivial solution aaaaaand by-hand-fixes (working in 3ds max). didn't want to get in touch with marvelous designer (don't get me wrong, the program is very nice, but i'm not having enough time to…
Finished some reders and presentation shots :D Moar (with wire) on my profile: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/P5Q4o. Thanks @Jesse Walsh @s1dK @fsanin for kind words and all guys for help. Starting second turret, some blockout below, btw thinking about adding some cloth through marvelous designer (want to learn it btw)…
Depends on the game engine you're going out to. Will the player be able to swap armor/clothing dynamically in game? If so then you need to find out what kind of socket system the game expects you to use. Usually specific names for specific bones in the rig, like "chestarmor" etc. Or is the armor/clothing always there?…
Finally getting the clothes set up in Character Creator now. The skinning didn't transfer very well to my clothing so I'll end up re-skinning everything manually unfortunately, which is what I would have loved to spent the least amount of time on. I'm also running into a problem where I'm unable to replace the mesh in…
Tbh it wasn't my idea to make her look comfortable. And clothes here are not designed at all. I focused in this photo, like I said, on her face and pose. That's why I'm asking for tips or any good tutorials for materials because I know I'm not good at it. I made her naked at the start, clothes went after, just to cover her…
For this week I was assigned a male protagonist (Red Coat) Achievements this week: I was able to make the clothing items in Marvelous Designer, this was my first time using the program. I also participated in the Game Jam on Friday and Saturday. I made changes to the areas addressed in the weekly during class on Thursday…
I'm not much a character artist, but I would compare your model with some reference, tehre's a lot of it that seems a bit off proportionally. I would also do some cloth studies - the way your cloth hangs is very unnatural and a little bit gravity defying. The tears on the hood also follow the concept far too closely. The…
@Mathew O Thanks dude! Appreciate that. :) Had to take a couple days off to hit a milestone for this Uni project so not as much progress as I would have liked. But we're getting a little closer now! Still left to do Details on the back, upper arms rebuild forearm to match design language of rest of mech The cloth/packs etc…
Agree with Suba. The sculpt looks really emaciated. Also you don't necessarilly need to sculpt things like abs and knees for something like this, you just need to make the basemesh the right proportions so you can layer your clothing meshes (I'm assuming that was your workflow planning? first making a body and then…
