Yes, I think it can in recent versions, using the Mesh tab. But it's still going to be pretty much polysoup. Out of curiosity, why would you build the above mesh in 3DF if eventually looking to export a deformation-friendly mesh to Max? -

Sorry to dig this back up, but they just released an update: http://www.newtek.com/lightwave/newsletter.php Be sure to read the .pdf. Not much game oriented stuff mentioned though. But theres some neat stuff like subdividing using the GPU, interactive rendering. -

added turret lookat, and a rotation when they are idle added energy in the game, turrets are only active when you have enough energy you can disable enable turrets added slow turret in the game added selection texture that is animated -
