Hey Joopson. if your shield is for game purposes, i would suggest allocating more texture space to the front of the shield unless you were thinking for a first person setup. either way whichever side of the shield you will be seeing more often you could scale up in the texture sheet for better resolution. also you could…
Update on Shield. Shield: At the start he don't have shield but after few battles he noticed that people try to kill/away him by using stones, arrows, spears etc.So he decides to make a shield. So he collect necessary material required for shield( found during battles and as per his size).Metal pieces=others shield pieces he…
Great piece dude! I love the concept/functionality of this one. The only real crit I have is that in the render on the right the handle has the illusion that its baked into the normal map. I think its because of the tappered shape of the handle end caps and the fact that it never quite breaks the silhouette of the shield…
@noHero: Love the workaround to practicing anatomy and keeping within lines of defensive shields :D I can see what I assume to be lines for a machined type metal and the lighting is looking good (nice touch on the reflections of the figures and the correct specular lights on them too. The places I'd suggest looking at…
I thought it was finally time to upload my work in progress on the shield! I'm having fun with this prop challenge. Since the model itself is relatively simple I'm going to be focusing on my texturing, so I've tried to get a variety of materials in to my model. I'm following the concept loosely and adding references that…
you dont have to but, elaborate? just seems like an unneeded tack on reach is good, and it plays differently then h3 and ODST, but its still halo so mv12 is prolly right. either way you should give it a try. i think h3 was an improvement to h2. ODST is fun for firefight with four friends, but other then that its mediocre…
HEY I just had an idea. Why don't we name an equipment instead of a hero? For example we say let's make a "shield". Then people start to do shields for heros that have shield (Dragon Knight, Luna and etc) then the judges or the community chosses let's say the best 5 shields (maybe one per hero) then the winners will submit…
Yeah I'd agree that the slash in the shield looks odd. It's way too big and the low resolution texture really shows because of it. If you do one slash, you should add a few small scuffs and damage elsewhere on the shield. Keep it consistent. I'd also suggest painting at about 512 or 1024 (for these particular props), you…
Are we allowed to model shields? A: Yes, however they will be classified as secondary weapons for this contest (meaning you cannot JUST model a shield. It must be part of a set that includes a shield). Shield reference models have now been added to the documentation.
I like the razor set but I always think the same thing when people make stout shield/quelling blade items for heroes- will anyone be interested in buying an item which they instantly recognise as cheap ingame and in some cases worthless? Does the average dota player want to be running around at 50 minutes with their legion…
